About Us

We are all looking for innovative ways to make our lives easier, and Ikan will do just that! Time is an extremely valuable commodity for people in every walk of life. There never seems to be enough of it.

Therefore, as four entrepreneurs who have young families and never enough time, we decided to do a firsthand, informal study on where exactly the hours go during our everyday lives. We already knew from personal experience that shopping for groceries was an activity that seemed to swallow up a huge amount of time and effort – and even so – was never done to anyone’s satisfaction.

So, we each spent two weeks in our kitchens – the hub of most households – and we took notes. What did we discover? Lots of work, many trips to the grocery store, never the right supplies when we needed them, too much of one item, and lots of items that were forgotten. We also found that although products came into our homes from many different sources, once they were used, they all ended up in the trash.

In addition, we felt a strong sense of responsibility to do our part to help the environment, but we were uninformed about the correct methods of disposing the different types of rubbish that we had accumulated.

THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY!

We knew that there had to be a better way, and we set out to find it!

We took our cutting-edge technological expertise, our marketing and branding talents, and our invaluable “Kitchen Research,” and we began to develop what is now the Ikan System – an easy and convenient way to shop for groceries from home and have them delivered when you want them. Another useful feature of the Ikan System is the organizational help it provides with your shopping list.

We are pleased that Ikan also fulfills our main goal of informing consumers how to correctly discard emptied product containers. This can be accomplished by simply scanning items as you throw them away. The Ikan screen will show you if the item is recyclable.

BUY WHAT YOU NEED, WHEN YOU NEED IT, WITH IKAN!

We tested the Ikan System in our homes with great success and found that we saved time and money, reduced spoilage in household inventory, saved gas in unnecessary trips to the store and we were able to recycle our trash in the correct and responsible way. Ikan has revolutionized our families’ lives, and we know it can do the same for you.

THE FUTURE FOR IKAN

After a successful beta test with the Ikan System, we launched commercially in the New York City metropolitan area at the beginning of 2008 with almost twenty retail supermarkets including D’Agostino, West Side Market, Pioneer, Metfresh, Brach's and KRM.

We are currently developing opportunities to enlarge the network of available retailers in metropolitan areas all over the country. We have also developed a system for individual retailers to accommodate Ikan users.
